The Nzuno Woman Class is the major project under Kitibwa’s socio-economic empowerment arm, designed to enhance the well-being of mothers through both practical and theoretical curriculum-based sessions. These classes equip mothers with essential economic skills such as financial literacy, business planning, and management. The sessions also provide a platform for women to share their personal experiences, discuss challenges in running businesses, and learn from each other’s management strategies.

Beyond theoretical training, the program incorporates hands-on activities, including tailoring, baking, liquid soap making, and crafts. Complementing these economic skills, the mothers also gain social skills in motherhood, prayerfulness, cleanliness, and sanitation. Many women face depression and social isolation; therefore, these classes create a safe space where they can share their struggles, find companionship, and draw inspiration from their peers while acquiring valuable knowledge and skills.

Since its inception, the Nzuno Women’s Class has impacted over 779 mothers, significantly transforming their lives. To date, 30 mothers have successfully graduated, having attended at least 75% of the sessions. These women have demonstrated remarkable social and economic growth, becoming more resilient and optimistic despite financial hardships.

One such success story is Sylvia, a housewife who joined the program in 2023 with little hope and no financial or business knowledge. Through these sessions, she discovered her potential and started a jackfruit business, diligently saving daily. Using her savings, she later ventured into poultry farming, which has since flourished. Today, Sylvia is thriving both socially and economically, with all her children in school and saving at least Shs. 50,000 per month.

Many other mothers have similarly achieved economic growth through this initiative and continue to work towards their financial goals. However, challenges remain, particularly in handling overwhelming financial burdens such as school fees, medical bills, and food expenses. Most of these women are single mothers, which significantly limits their ability to save and expand their businesses.

We, therefore, appeal for support to help these mothers achieve financial independence. Contributions can be made through:

  • Small grants to help mothers expand their businesses.
  • Market opportunities for their products through word of mouth and networking.
  • Education and healthcare support for their children to relieve financial strain.

Your support will empower these mothers to overcome financial hardships and continue their path to economic self-sufficiency.
