Every Child Deserves A Chance At Education

Education is a right, not a privilege. Yet, for many vulnerable children in Uganda, staying in school is a daily struggle against poverty, hunger, and lack of basic scholastic materials. The Asome Bags of Hope Initiative was initiated to address this crisis, ensuring that children at risk of dropping out due to financial hardship have the resources they need to remain in school and pursue their dreams.

The harsh reality

According to UNICEF, 1 in 5 Ugandan children is out of school, and poverty remains one of the leading barriers to education. Studies show that nearly 60% of children in rural Uganda lack access to essential scholastic materials like exercise books, pens, and rulers, basic items that determine whether they can effectively study or forced to stay home.

For many vulnerable children, school is more than just a place of learning; it is their only hope, a safe space from challenges at home, and a pathway out of poverty. Yet, without the necessary supplies, the dream of education and a better life fades away. Instead of holding books, many children hold onto hopelessness, uncertain of what even tomorrow holds.

Our efforts so far – 250 children supported last year

In 2024, through a partnership with Make Jesus Famous Global Tabernacle, the Asome Bags of Hope Initiative provided 250 vulnerable children with backpacks filled with scholastic materials, including: ✔ Geometry sets ✔ Exercise books ✔ Pens & pencils ✔ Water bottles ✔ Rulers, erasers & sharpeners

These simple yet essential items gave these children the ability to continue their education, alleviating the burden from struggling mothers who were on the verge of pulling their children out of school due to financial constraints.
